Birmingham Named Top Travel Destination
There was a time when living in Birmingham, Alabama felt a little dreary. The economic crisis of 2008 dealt a sharp blow to our city. Many businesses went under, leaving the downtown area with a desolate backdrop of abandoned buildings. People were losing jobs and fearing the future.
Today’s Birmingham is a very different place. The economy is swinging upward, and abandoned buildings are being transformed into new and exciting businesses.
But wait–it gets better! As a real estate company, we are seeing an increase in the number of people coming to us to look at houses for sale in Birmingham, AL. This boost could be partially due to Birmingham’s appearance on the Travel Channel’s list of The Next 11 Great Destinations.
Birmingham Makes The List
The Travel Channel researched all the latest and greatest places for travel lovers to visit, and Birmingham, Alabama made the cut! We believe this could not have been possible without the new and exciting energy from the residents of this city. Everyone is eager to see where Birmingham is going, and the country is taking note!
On a list featuring culturally rich destinations such as Cuba, the Philippines, and Poland, Birmingham ranks #8. The Travel Channel attributes its destination appeal to the local brewery scene, America’s oldest baseball park, and the new Lyric Theatre. Regarding the Lyric Theatre, the Travel Channel says to “expect national and global acts in performance art and music regularly.” We are thrilled that Birmingham’s sweeping economic strides have resulted in its inclusion on such a prestigious list!
