Happy National Intern Day!
Happy National Intern Day! At ARC Realty, we’re incredibly fortunate to have four summer interns: Megan Dowdy (Gallery Brokers), Reid Anderson (Mt Laurel), Benon Mugisha (Cahaba Heights) and Bryant Rich (Cahaba Heights). We’ve enjoyed having them in our offices and it is hard to describe how appreciative we are of all of them! They are all hardworking, detail-oriented team players that have made an incredible impact on our day-to-day operations this summer! We had the opportunity to sit down with the Cahaba Heights interns, Benon Mugisha and Bryant Rich, to talk about their experience and what’s next for them.
First off, how did you get this internship?
Benon: I got this internship through a friend that told me it was one of the best places to work (he was right!).
Bryant: My dad works at ARC, so I’ve known Beau Bevis (broker) for a long time. I asked him if there was any way I could work here to learn the business and he kindly said yes!
What has been your favorite part of working at ARC?
Benon: My favorite part of working at ARC is that I am surrounded by people who really care about professional and personal growth. I will definitely miss the birthday celebrations and what I like to call “fake poker” (left-right-center).
Bryant: Definitely the people I am around at the office. Everyone is so welcoming and made me feel at home, even on my first day working.
What have you learned during your time here and what has surprised you?
Benon: I’ve always thought the real estate industry was only about buying and selling houses, but I was surprised to learn that it involves working with web developers, interior designers, and other individuals from different industries.
Bryant: I’ve learned what happens to a listing after the agent turns in a contract. It’s been extremely beneficial learning the entire process of real estate and connecting the dots. What surprised me about the industry is the drastic change of pace from day to day.
What’s next for you?
Benon: I can definitely see myself doing something real estate related. My next step is to get done with my last year of college at Samford and I’d like to start my own business in the next five years.
Bryant: Next year I’ll finish my senior year at Hoover High School and then attend the University of Alabama in the fall of 2019, majoring in finance. I also want to get my real estate license when I turn 19. In five years, I hope to be graduating with a master’s degree from Alabama and head into a job in the vast field of finance.
What are your favorite activities outside of the office?
Benon: I like to read in my free time and watch a good movie or two. On the weekends, you can find me playing spikeball with my friends.
Bryant: I love to go out with my friends and ride around the city. I’m a big Alabama fan, so during football season I’m cheering on Alabama football. Roll tide!
