How to Tailgate like a Pro
Saturdays down South are all about football. The events surrounding the game are just as important as the game itself. Every season thousands of fans gather together to tailgate and enjoy other gameday activities before their team takes to the field. In preparation for football kicking off in a few weeks, we are sharing some tips on how to tailgate like a pro.
Know your tailgate spot. Make sure you know where you can and cannot set up to tailgate. If you plan to grill can you use an open flame?
Get there early.Arrive 4 hours before kickoff. This will give you plenty of time to setup, eat and take down before game time.
Prepare ahead of time. Make a list of everything you need and prepare as much food as possible ahead of time. This will help ensure you’re not prepping the entire tailgate, but have time for some fun!
Hydration is key. Tailgating is often an all day event and if you’re going to last, hydration is important. Frozen bottles of water help kill 2 birds with 1 stone. They keep things cool in the ice chest and then serve as cold water to drink when ready.
Be easy to find.Consider tying a long ballon or flag so that you’re friends can easily find your tailgate.
Be comfortable.Standing hours on end can be tiring. Be sure to pack chairs (and some extra!) for everyone to site in. Also consider a tent to help provide shade during those hot game days.
Think about the kids. Have fun games and things to do for kids at the tailgate. You can never go wrong with a cornhole tournament!
Show other games. Saturdays during football season are jam packed with games all day. Consider bringing a satellite TV to show other popular games taking place during the tailgate.
Keep it positive.Tailgating should be fun for everyone. Be respectful of others no matter who they are cheering for!
