5 Tips for Selling Your Home This Spring

Winter isn’t over yet, but that thaw can’t be too far around the corner. And as the weather warms up, so will the housing market.

Spring is the the busiest time for real estate, and homeowners planning to put their homes on the market shouldn’t wait for flowers to bloom before getting ready to sell.

If you’re a prospective home seller, ARC Realty has five tips that you can use to prepare your home to sell this spring:

Improve Curb Appeal

If potential buyers are turned off by the outside condition of the home, there’s a slim chance they’ll be interested in looking inside.

Trim back bushes and branches so the house can be seen, and brighten up the yard with some colorful flowers. Also pressure wash the driveway, sidewalk, and patio. Finally, repair anything that’s showing wear and tear if it is noticeable from the road.

Remember, the outside of your home is the first impression – you should do your best to make it a great one!

Start Packing

Before you even get an offer? Yes!

This isn’t as crazy as it sounds! Potential buyers want to see the space they may be buying, which means you need to pack away your excess furniture and clutter to show a room’s full potential.

What should you start packing up and uncluttering? All rooms – kitchen, bedrooms, living areas, and even closets.

Clean Your Drapes, Blinds, and Carpets

Send your drapes or curtains to the dry cleaners or wash them in your personal machines if possible. Toss blinds into a soapy bathtub for a quick wash.

If you have a pet, you’ll want to clean your carpets well to remove any odor or stains.

Utilize Towels, Throws, and Pillows in Light Colors

Consider yellows, pinks, lavenders, or pale blues. These items are inexpensive accents that can do a lot to spruce up the interior of your home. In soft spring colors, they will light up any room.

Research Your Market

Home pricing is tricky. That’s why it’s a good idea to work with an experienced real estate agent to help you not only choose the correct listing price, but also get an idea of what your home is likely to sell for in the current market.

ARC Realty has plenty of agents who are prepared to help your sell your home this spring. We can negotiate deals and close the sale of your home faster and for more money than choosing a for sale by owner (FSBO) process.

You’ve already got plenty to do to sell your home! Make your job easier by working with a real estate agent whose advice you can trust.
