Festivals
Birmingham is known to have an eclectic mix of fun festivals. Here are some festivals you’ll want to attend this September:
Oktoberfest 2015 – This is the 39th Birmingham Oktoberfest located at Das Haus 2318 2nd Ave N, B’ham beginning on September 10, and lasting through the weekend. For $10 you get a coffee or tea and admission into the weekend event. The festival includes live music, dancing, brews, and more! Come dressed in your finest dirndl or lederhosen for free admission!
Saint George Middle Eastern Food Festival – The 34th annual Saint George Middle Eastern Food Festival will be held on September 17-19. Held at the St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church, this festival includes dancing, church tours, and loads of delicious food. From hummus, falafel, and spinach pies, to countless pastry’s, you’re sure to leave with a full belly. Middle Eastern food is also extremely vegetarian friendly!
Trucks by the Tracks – Have you just purchased Birmingham, Alabama real estate? New to the area? Well this is a MUST-SEE event. Visit the beautiful Railroad Park for burgers, po-boys, gelato, gourmet popsicles, and more! This event features all the best food truck cuisine in Birmingham, lawn games, and live bands. Admission starts at $5, but for $30 you can become a VIP and get free soda, water, snacks and shade.
The 2015 Whistle Stop Festival – This annual festival will be marking its 24th year! On Saturday, September 27, visit historic downtown Irondale from 10am-10pm. This event features food, art, music, fireworks and much, much more!
Labor Day Weekend Around Birmingham
Everyone looks forward to Labor Day. After all, it’s one of the only long weekends throughout the best season of the year, summer. It can sneak up on you though. Are you just realizing that Labor Day is around the corner and you have no plans? Do not fear. Birmingham has plenty of things to do.

If you’ve been looking for a good 5k to participate in, Chik-Fil-A will be hosting their Chick-fil-A Connect Race series over Labor Day weekend. All of the proceeds go to help children with autism and their families.
Birmingham also boasts many outside events, such as the Birmingham Zoo, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and a host of beautiful parks spread out throughout the metro area that make for perfect Labor Day festivities. Also, Oak Mountain State Park is only a short drive away.
