Music
With more music venues to host artists, more music comes into Birmingham! Let’s look at a few of the artists coming to the best music venues in October.
Alt- J– This English indie band will coming October 8 to the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre. They have been dubbed the “new Radiohead” and Rolling Stone magazine called their sound an “ambling and entrancing listen.”
Walk the Moon– Iron City, October 18. This Cincinnati pop band is known for their ecstatic shows, where fans shout, sing, chant and dance to their fun lyrics. Their first major single was a clear hit, “Anna Sun,” but their most recent song “Shut Up And Dance With Me” is the one people are having trouble getting out of their heads.
Melanie Martinez– Saturn, October 16. You may remember Melanie Martinez from her appearances on “The Voice.” This singer/songwriter is known for her provocative lyrics and stunning visual presence. Her music and performance can be described as both childlike and dark, making her concert an incredibly unique experience.
Alabama Theatre

Younger generations may have seen the TV show he wrote and executive produced, “Zac Stone Is Gonna Be Famous”. His comedy is controversial, touching subjects such as race, religion, and gender.
Rocky Horror Masquerade Ball– This year marks the 20th anniversary for the Alabama Theatre’s Rocky Horror Masquerade Ball. On October 23rd, dress up as your favorite character and joinhundreds of fans as they sing, shout lines, throw confetti, and dance the timewarp again! The best dressed costume receives a cash prize!
Alabama Symphony Psycho– Just before Halloween, on October 30th, the Alabama Theatre will be showing a screenplay of the classic thriller, Psycho. But, it gets better.
