October Event Guide

Fall is upon us and hopefully some cool weather is to follow! There are a lot of fun fall festivities taking place this month. Check out some of our favorites below!

Sloss Fright Furnace

Experience Historic Sloss Furnaces like never before! Each year, one of Birmingham’s most popular landmarks transforms into a haunted attraction. Take a terrifying tour deep into the furnaces or try to escape a zombie infested forest at the newly expanded obstacle course, Outbreak 2. See why Sloss Fright Furnace is one of the top fright attractions in the world… but don’t say we didn’t warn you!

September 29-October 31 / $20+ / Historic Sloss Furnaces / WEBSITE

Bluff Park Art Show

Head to Hoover for the 54th Annual Bluff Park Art Show! Browse from over 150 artists, plus enjoy food from local vendors, hands-on art activities for the kids, and live jazz music! Proceeds from the show will be donated to help improve the arts in Birmingham.

October 7 / FREE / Bluff Park Community Center / WEBSITE

Walk for Freedom

Lace up your walking shoes and head to Railroad Park for Birmingham’s Annual Walk for Freedom! Did you know that over 15,000 women and children were trafficked through Birmingham’s city limits via I-20 in 2012? Modern-day slavery takes place everyday right here in our own backyards. Join us as we raise awareness on human trafficking in Birmingham and support A21, a global anti-trafficking organization. Together, we can make a difference!

October 14 / FREE / Railroad Park / WEBSITE

Birmingham Oktoberfest

Grab your lederhosen and head to Caldwell Park for Birmingham Oktoberfest! Enjoy a day of live polka music, an abundance of games, delicious German food, and (of course) ice cold beer! General admission tickets include a souvenir beer stein and your first beer of the day. It’s sure to be an über fun event!

Boo at the Zoo

Visit the Birmingham Zoo this October for Boo at the Zoo – 12 nights of spooky attractions and fun! Come dressed in your family-friendly Halloween costume as you explore the Ghoul School, enjoy dozens of free games and live music, or take a ride on the Eerie Express Pirate Train. No matter where you turn, there’s fun for the whole family!

October 15, 19-22, 26-31 / $10+ / Birmingham Zoo / WEBSITE
