What’s coming to Birmingham in 2018
Birmingham experienced rapid growth and revitalization in 2017, and is not set to slow down anytime soon. While 2018 is just beginning, there already are several exciting new things set to debut. Below are just a few things of What’s coming to Birmingham in 2018.
Back Forty Beer Company
During the past few years, the Birmingham beer scene has been booming. Breweries such as Good People, Avondale, Trim Tab and Cahaba Brewing have given residents go-to weekend hangouts. This year, the Gadsden-based brewery, Back Forty Beer Company, plans to open its first satellite location in the Magic City. Like many other of the city’s breweries, Back Forty will refurbish an industrial property that was formerly a warehouse for UAB, revitalizing the area.
Dave and Busters
The popular entertainment venue and restaurant, Dave and Busters is expected to open its first Alabama location at the Riverchase Galleria this summer. The restaurant chain currently is headquartered in Dallas and includes a family friendly video arcade and sports bar.
Lakeview Green
As a major part of the city’s revitalization efforts, Birmingham has seen an influx of mixed-use development plans. One of these highly anticipated developments is Lakeview Green, which is planned to open in the fall of 2018. Lakeview Green is set to be a five-story building with 30 condos, 73 apartment units and 38,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space. The development will also include a lazy river, koi pond and green space with firepits, social areas, fitness center, pool and herb garden.
Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar
The Louisiana-based restaurant, Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, plans to open six Alabama locations, the first of which include Birmingham and Mobile. In the fall of 2018, Walk-On’s will open on Highway 280 in Hoover. On average, the restaurants have approximately 8,000 square feet, with 160 seats and around 150 employees. Walk-on’s serves Louisiana-inspired dishes, starting every dish from scratch with fresh ingredients.
BrickTop’s
This June, the Tennessee-based seafood restaurant, BrickTop’s, will open in a prominent vacant site off Highway 280. The 6,500-square-foot building is expected to seat around 200 guests. Bricktop’s has nine other locations, including Nashville, Palm Beach and St. Louis, and will be its first location in Alabama.
