Jazz in the Park Series
What’s better than enjoying jazz music in the park? The Jefferson County Commission is sponsoring a series of free jazz concerts throughout the summer.

Tanabata Festival
Join the Japan America Society of Alabama and the Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens for the first Tanabata Star Festival event! You’ll have the opportunity to make tanzaku wishes and tie them to our wish trees. You’ll also get to enjoy Japanese snacks, yukata dress-up, origami, and other activities. This special, family-friendly event will take place in the Japanese Garden of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Bicentennial Day at Alabama State Parks
The Alabama State Parks Division is celebrating 200 years of Alabama statehood on the 200th day of 2019 by declaring it Bicentennial Day at Alabama State Parks! On that day, Alabama’s state parks will offer free admission, free parking, and a 20 percent discount on overnight accommodations (some exceptions apply).

McWane After Dar: Fly Me To The Moon
It’s one giant leap for mankind as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. Travel back in time and party like its 1969 at our exclusive 21+ after hours event. Join us as we relive the historic landing on its Golden Anniversary with astronaut challenges, music, snacks, and local brews that are out of this world. Steel Magnolias
Presenting the 2019 Alabama Theatre Summer Film Series — A young beautician, newly arrived in a small Louisiana town, finds work at the local salon, where a small group of women share a close bond of friendship, and welcome her into the fold. Doors open 1 hour before showtime, and each screening will begin with a sing-along accompanied by the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ.
