5 Reasons It Might Be Time to Move
1. Your family is expanding
Your current home may have made sense when you were single or newly married. Then, you made that spare bedroom into a nursery. Now, the walls feel like they are closing in. Planning, expecting or even adding a pet to the household are top reasons that homebuyers decide to upsize from their current space. Your kiddos need space to play and your pup needs a backyard to run.
2. You want to be in a better school district
If you’ve got kids, great schools are probably a priority in your home search. While many our local schools offer great academic programs, you might also want to send your children to the school that will provide success in their hobbies, as well, whether that be a top football team or impressive drama department. Moving into a high rated school district that has high graduation rates, good teacher-to-student ratios, and offers enriching extracurriculars, can be a great reason to make a move. You’ll want to move sooner rather than later, though, as homes in good school districts rarely decline in home values.
3. You no longer are up to fixing things
Constantly spending time and money on updates and repairs can be exhausting. This is a great reason to start your search for an updated or newer home, build your own in one of the many new neighborhoods around town, or even downsize into a maintenance free loft space. Peace of mind that you do not have to work on your home all weekend is worth the investment.
4. You can afford it
Your budget at 21 and 41 probably look a little different. Maybe you received a promotion, a pay raise or have paid off some of your larger debts. Whatever the case may be, congratulations! You can finally afford to buy the home you’ve always had in mind. You’re ready and able to move up.
5. You want to live more simply
Are you ready for main level living? Sick of the stairs? Perhaps its time to downsize. If the family home you bought years ago is no longer what best suits its residents, its time to consider moving into a space that better fits your day-to-day life. Like most family homes, the one you’d like to sell has done its job for years now and might need a little TLC to attract the right buyer. Involve the whole family in the repair, decluttering and painting efforts. Coming together for one last project on the house makes departing easier.
